Rigmaiden Family History Blog: Marian Rigmaiden, born 1873

Marian was born in New Ferry, Cheshire in 1873, the eldest child of Edward and Mary Rigmaiden. Edward was James Smith Rigmaiden's younger brother and their children would have been his nephews and nieces.

Up until her marriage in 1898, Marian was living with her parents. In the 1891 census Mary had been widowed and the family were living at 111 Grey Rock Street, Walton. Marian (18) and her younger sister Maggie May (16) were waitresses in an inn.
In 1898 Marian married Ralph Harvey (25), son of Thomas, a foreman - probably of builders - at St Chrysostom's Church, Walton.
In the 1901 census Marian and Ralph are living at 3 Margaret Rd, Walton-on-the-Hill and by this time they have a son, Alfred Johnston Harvey, born in 1899. Ralph's job is a clerk.
Ralph dies in 1905 but by 1911 Marian has met her second husband, Thomas Boothman.
In the 1911 census Marian is staying with her mother Mary (now 61), with her two boys, Alfred and Edgar Henley (born 1902) at 70 Hale Rd,  Walton. Also living there are her siblings Henley (30) and Evelyn (28), and her niece, Beatrice Rowland (15).
The same year, however, Marian has emigrated to Canada and on the 6th May marries Tom Boothman. They appear in the 1911 Canadian census living in Vancouver, British Columbia, with Marian's two sons, Tom's occupation is civil engineer.
Marion dies on the 2nd December 1926, aged 52,; Tom on the 30th October 1943, aged 75. They are both interred at Mountain View Cemetery, Vancouver.
It seems that Edgar Henley Harvey dies, aged 12, in 1912 but his older brother, Alfred, adds his stepfather's name to his own as in 1929 Alfred Johnston Harvey Boothman weds Ottila May Gossett. Alfred dies in 1967 in Vancouver.
I have not, as yet, traced any descendants so if anyone knows of the family I would be interested to hear from them to bring the story up to date.
